3 Quick Tips for a Healthier Kitchen

  • Keep a full pitcher of filtered water on the counter at all times. If you don’t like to drink plain water, add some thinly sliced fruit that’s in season to add some flavor and natural electrolytes. Having water out on the counter is a great reminder to drink water more often! This prevents against dehydration, especially helps beat the summer heat, and aids in proper digestion.
  • Stock your pantry with Earthy colored foods. Examples include: browns- brown rice, whole grain bread, and kidney beans; tans- chick peas and whole grain pasta, greens- lentils and spices. Earth toned foods usually indicate that they haven’t been overly processed.
  • Keep an ample fruit bowl on the counter. Fruit out in the open equals a quick grab-and-go snack for families on the constant run. Also, having fruit to munch on at all times prevents us from getting overly hungry from not eating as often as we should, and prevents us from eating other less healthy snacks and sweets when we’re hungry.
